"reason for being"
After designing an ad for my shoe friends 'The Horse' to be in Frankie magazine, I feel it only right to continue the spread of this leather gospel. Based upon the idea that with wear the leather will tame to shape naturally to your organic print as your feet turn, dance & sing. To see the collection gallop to thehorse.com.au. Black Beauty would be proud.
Sydney will light up with an array of dynamic light sculptures as part of the 'Light Walk', a free pedestrian route around the city's harbour precinct every night from 26 May to 14 June 2009 (6pm till midnight). Worth checking out how Sydney’s cityscape becomes a canvas of art. Myself and other design students designed posters for the festival around the idea of 'memories, people & places'. You can sneak a peek of our work at the Tower Building of UTS.
I have a very complex relationship with typography, a love/hate one. But one designer whose work I am in awe of is Marian Bantjes. Her work calls for a response beyond that of just communication and demands engagement on many levels. Writers in response to her work credit her for “creating deeply spiritual typography that goes beyond religion.”
'hairs' is an illustration series i just completed. 0.05 pt pen was my tool of choice, which allowed for a delicate tone to the line work. 6 x 4 prints are for sale with all money going towards the development of Child Safe Zones in Cambodian Displaced Peoples Camps. Contact me to request to get your own hair done or too see a pdf or the full series.
