{mass}

There is a folder on my desktop that i dump all the images in that make me look & wonder. Some of these i do not know what about them makes me come to a holt for a moment. but alas! these is a small link. i find the idea of mass and repetition deeply moving. Especially Tokyo apartments & densely populated townships. Maybe i like seeing lives been played out simultaneously or the fascination of having a God perspective.
All i know is i want to look out of every window ever created.

{kicks}

After designing an ad for my shoe friends 'The Horse' to be in Frankie magazine, I feel it only right to continue the spread of this leather gospel. Based upon the idea that with wear the leather will tame to shape naturally to your organic print as your feet turn, dance & sing. To see the collection gallop to thehorse.com.au. Black Beauty would be proud.

{sissors}

It's quite a rarity to meet people who have being doing the same thing for most their lives, & to still love it. Through my photographic documentary into retro barber's in sydney i meet many a barber who were all too keen to share stories of migration from Italy, punk subcultures in the 70s & why their old-fashioned approach to gents hair will always have its place. Enjoy the timelessness of their space & work.

{let there be light}

Sydney will light up with an array of dynamic light sculptures as part of the 'Light Walk', a free pedestrian route around the city's harbour precinct every night from 26 May to 14 June 2009 (6pm till midnight). Worth checking out how Sydney’s cityscape becomes a canvas of art. Myself and other design students designed posters for the festival around the idea of 'memories, people & places'. You can sneak a peek of our work at the Tower Building of UTS.

{Marian Banties}

I have a very complex relationship with typography, a love/hate one. But one designer whose work I am in awe of is Marian Bantjes. Her work calls for a response beyond that of just communication and demands engagement on many levels. Writers in response to her work credit her for “creating deeply spiritual typography that goes beyond religion.”

{hairs}

'hairs' is an illustration series i just completed. 0.05 pt pen was my tool of choice, which allowed for a delicate tone to the line work. 6 x 4 prints are for sale with all money going towards the development of Child Safe Zones in Cambodian Displaced Peoples Camps. Contact me to request to get your own hair done or too see a pdf or the full series.

{Raison d'être}

'Raison d etre' a phrase borrowed from the French where it means simply "reason for being". i believe we all have a reason for existing  whether it's to teach, care, inspire, count, plant, talk, defend & sing. Maybe we go a whole life time & never really know our reason, only to find it is other peoples reasons we help them to uncover. Mine hasn't totally been realised (if this is a possible place to be) but for now there are far too many important things to say only to be said through picture so enjoy my blog & my raison d etre. onwards i go.
